German Chancellor arrived to negotiate a settlement amid fear of Russian attack on Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Ukraine on Monday
amid growing fears of a Russian attack. Scholz plans to move from here to
Moscow, where he will try to convince President Vladimir Putin to back down on
the matter. US officials have warned that Russia may launch an attack this
week.
Moscow has denied these plans, but has deployed more than
130,000 troops to the Ukrainian border. At the same time, America believes that
in a short time, Russia has accumulated so much military power that it can
attack at any time. Some airlines have canceled their flights to the Ukrainian
capital amid fears that a war might break out at some point. At the same time,
NATO member countries have landed a new consignment of weapons there on Sunday.
The US, Britain and other European countries have asked
their citizens to leave the country (Ukraine), while Washington is recalling
most of its employees from its embassy in Kiev. In the wake of Russian naval
exercises in the Black Sea, Ukraine's air traffic safety agency Eukaroruk
issued a statement describing the airspace over the Black Sea as a
"potential danger zone" and that planes would not take off between
February 14 and 19. has been advised.
